Dr Lennard has been invited to make a presentation on the application of aquaponics in a developing world context at this global summit on scaling green and inclusive business in sustainable food, clean energy, water, waste management and health.

January 12, 2013, Opening Ceremony and Seminar, Suzhou, China

Dr. Rakocy has been invited to attend and give comments at the opening ceremony of the Suzhou Modern Agriculture and Business Park. Afterwards he will give a seminar entitled “Aquaponics: Past, Present and Future.”

March 3-16, 2013, Christian Social Service and Development Department, Yangon, Myanmar

Dr. James Rakocy was invited by Winrock International to provide development assistance to the Christian Social Service and Development Department in Myanmar (Burma) under a project titled “Improved Aquaponic Techniques for Fish Farmers.” Dr. Rakocy co-taught a 5-day aquaponics course at a rural training site outside Yangon (formerly Rangoon) along with Dr. Dilip Nandwani, aquaponics project leader at the University of the Virgin Islands. In addition, Dr. Rakocy directed the construction of a low tech media-based aquaponic system for the production of local vegetables and stinging catfish, a highly prized food fish in Myanmar. The system is off grid and receives power from photovoltaic cells.

Dr. Rakocy has been invited to present "An Overview of Aquaponics" at this symposium and give a one day workshop on "Aquaponics Technology."

May 20 - August 9, 2013, Fiji National University, Fiji

Dr. Wilson Lennard has embarked on teaching a 12-week, 5-days/week aquaponics course at Fiji National University. Students attend 3 hours of lectures each morning and spend 4 hours in the afternoon constructing a commercial aquaponic system and conducting practical field exercises. The course is fully accredited and meets all of FNU's academic requirements for normal undergraduate study. The students are in a scholarship program initiated by the Fijian Government to encourage local youth to pursue careers in agriculture. After satisfying general agriculture and business requirements, the students specialize in subject areas such as aquaponics, dairy, poultry, swine, fruits and vegetables. It is believed that this is the first full time (35 hours per week) university-based course in aquaponics in the world.

"The event, 1st Aquaculture Investment Forum, is organized to bring more investment to the aquaculture sector of United Arab Emirates. During the event the Environment and Water Ministry will be highlighting the importance & prospects of aquaculture in UAE, its food security aspects, significance in protecting wild stocks and available opportunities for investment in the sector.

Event will be opened by His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad, The Minister of Environment and Water and will be attended by the Big Corporate Leaders, Investment Houses, Major Local banks and Government officials of UAE."

Drs. Rakocy and Lennard have been invited to serve as co-chairmen of the Aquaponics and Integrated Aquaculture – Agriculture Session at this conference. In addition, Dr. Rakocy will be giving presentations on the major aquaponic system designs and the UVI system design.

September 3-5, 2014, The European Union Aquaponics Hub – Realizing Sustainable Integrated Fish and Vegetable Production for the EU, London, England

Drs. Rakocy and Lennard were invited along with Dr. Edoardo Pantanella and Mr. Charlie Shultz to give aquaponic presentations and participate in a management committee meeting of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology Working Group at the University of Greenwich. Representatives from more than 10 European universities and an Israeli representative were advised of the current state-of-the-art of aquaponics. Committees were established to initiate a coordinated European aquaponics research program.

Dr. Rakocy was invited to give a keynote presentation on aquaponic systems at this congress, which will attract participants from the southern regions of South America. Prior to the congress, Dr. Rakocy will give a 1-day workshop on Aquaponics Technology.
